"To rid the world of ugly shoes one pair at a time"

I took a little visit over to SoleStruck to see what made me salivate and what made me snicker. I was thinking yearbook superlatives, opinions? I remember seeing something today that made me want to blog, but it has escaped me. (I have a terrible memory!)

Ay'yo Sean!

Despite wearing an [in my opinion] post-worthy slip dress to school today, I was out of it five minutes after I got home, so I'm left without a photograph.
No worries here though, I can talk about the oh-so-redundant Nicki Minaj!
Now I know this might sound a little forced, my blog-idea-pool is a little shallow at the moment, but Nicki Minaj leaves me less-than-enthused with pop culture. I'm going to pull a Snacks and Shit and quote her

"Ay' yo Sean, You Mr. Kingston"
                                           - Letting Go- Sean Kingston

I mean come on Miss Minaj, I am pretty sure he knows he's Mister Kingston, he's had that last name for, I don't know, his whole life...
This lil' post is the perfect transition into the well-deserved shout out to Harrison!
Happy Birthday you sexy well-dressed man, cerulean V-neck sweater? Mmm yes please!

Back to Nicki... I think she might have something going on in the photo above, petticoats are way cool. However, as a matter of fact, this was the only somewhat appropriate photo of her that came up on google... if I had used any other, than the "Adult Content" warning to get to this blog would actually be legitimate! Ha!

This little number from American Apparel has just found it's way onto my wishlist.
Oh Nicki, how you inspire me!

All weather is sunhat weather

When I finally bought these shorts, I knew that there was no way I wasn't going to wear them into fall. These tights are very sweatery and warm, but more importantly I think the texture really compliments the faded black denim!
Felt floppy hat from American Apparel, tights from ______, Carmar shorts from LF, and Clu tee courtesy of mother's closet. Oh and I had yet to shown you  my new favorite find, my tag-sale-discovery, worker boots!

PS- as much as I love tights (and I really do love them, I'm going to wear them all winter) they are just the most uncomfortable things ever

You're a legend

Today Mr. Kobin, the man himself, said something almost prophetic. "[...] it's like when girls wear lycra with uggs. Why would anyone wear tights with uggs?" and I haven't stopped wondering that since. Uggs are undeniably comfortable, albeit sweaty and stinky, but they weren't designed to be worn as snow-stoppers, let alone show-stoppers. That's all I can really say about Uggs; I can't go off ranting because I not only wore Uggs for years, but I craved new pairs each winter and enjoyed every step I took in them. However, what I will do is show you (if you haven't already seen) what happens when Jimmy Choo (everyone knows he sleeps around) knocks up Ugg Australia....

The most unanticipated-by-Georgia designer collaboration ever. Sweet baby Jimmy, it's just not necessary. I'm going to have to compare this to the Designer Snuggie (see below)

But the best of it all, is that for just six times the cost of regular Uggs, you can buy them with fringe! (And everyone knows I love fringe)

The truth's ugly, isn't it?

You didn't know I sail Pequots?

Wait, I don't sail Pequots... whoops!
I was very much feeling the outdoors today, which isn't like me, but I think spending all this time with my best friend is influencing me positively! I realized that there's not really any good fashion in these photos apart from my dad's awesome Paul Stewart scarf, but that's okay. (The boots I'm wearing are sick anyways. Ok, I'll take a photo...)

Here they are!

For some reason, I'm actually really loving fall (although I'd be the last to admit it!)

I was so excited to take photo's at the homecoming game and dance last night, but as soon as I got there, I realized I left my memory card in my computer...
I guess that's what I get for blogging too much...

Aw Shoot!

Good Morning! This is another collage I made a few months ago, I used cut outs from magazines and doodled the rest in myself.
I'm going to upload it to this really nice breast-cancer support website
(Everybody check it out!)

Tonight's the WHS homecoming and dance, which means a lot of American Apparel dresses! Woohoo!
Not from me though, I'm rewearing a dress from LF... sue me.

PS-

Ok, I saw these shower caps ages ago at Urban Outfitters, and now they come in tons of different  animals and other awesome random stuff.
I wash my jungle of a head of hair everyday, but these kind of make me not want to....

Booty Booty Booty Booty Rockin' Everywhere

Anyone who sees me wearing Uggs this winter has my permission to ask me to drop and give him/her 20 push-ups on the spot!
These are my boots! Okay, these aren't all of them, and they aren't my boots per say, however I these are the communal Blatchford boots that I have privilege (permission) to wear.
The Frye boots third from the left are mine though, but everyone has those anyway.

Do you know what bothers me?
I am a [reasonably] avid Tears for Fears fan. I saw them live in NYC this summer with my father and it was tied for the best concert experience of my life with Smashing Pumpkins, The Pixies, and John Mayer. (Basically, every concert besides Kings of Leon...)
Anyways, what bothers me is that everyone raves over "Gary Jule's" amaaaazing song "Mad World"
well PFFFT is what I have to say to you Gary Jewelers, the original is where it's at.
(No offense to Mr. Jules, your cover is beautiful, I just want people to know it's a cover)

PS- Did anyone notice how I learned to use italics?

Scan the perimeter

I made this collage for Nylon at the end of the summer, but haven't gotten around to mailing it in. I am really bad with sending mail, I literally have countless thank you cards and letters lying around waiting to be stamped.
I'm very pleased with how the scanning turned out, even though it was a cumbersome process.
In the spirit of the scan, I thought I'd share this with you:

Sisters
For anyone wondering if I've always been into fashion, yes clearly...
My hat legacy started long ago thanks to Elfenblog (werd to ya motha)

I was never fashionable in elementary/middle school... but I totally thought I was

Prime Foliage Weekend

F the foliage, I miss the skyscrapers

Up at Dartmouth (slash Okemo) for the weekend, It is really lovely!
People make such a fuss about the leaves changing, I don't really get it.
I mean to be fair, they change every year faithfully
(It's change we can believe in!)

Anyways I saw a few cool things today I wanted to share with you:

This is a burrito trailer... yes, a burrito trailer. <3

Now those are some sassy fringe moccasins! This 3-year old had such swagger with her furry vest and floral leggings, I almost fainted when I saw she was rocking some edgy moccs. At least these ones have some zest, as opposed to all of yours (YOURS) that look the same!

Chloé Spring '11

Paris Fashion Week, Chloé Spring '11
Photos from Vogue
An exposed back is the new cleavage, and this draping gives me goosebumps.
Neutrals worthy of celebration, pop the champagne!

Hum Drum

Today I wore UO Jeggings (they feel like pajamas) with a thrifted velvet crop top that buttons up the back and Olivia's We Who See suede wedges.
I really like this top because even though crop tops are very summery, the velvet is thick and  blouse-y making it perfect for this transition weather!

I've got this brown suede fringe bag that I've been wanting to use, but I can't really find anything to wear it with. I bought this weird fake-leathery material union-jack studded bag at LF this summer, and I actually can't separate myself from it. It is the perfect size to hold all of my things for school (Even Beowulf!) Maybe one day I'll show you all what's inside.

My bedding really doesn't reflect my personality at all, but I love my pillows!

PS-  I have another rant coming any day now!

Today I stayed home sick, studying for physics and watching Hair!
The 60's were very crazy and funky. This fringe I don't mind as much! I love the feathers and vests, so flower-childy, makes me want to go to Woodstock or something. (But I'll never, ever wear flare jeans)

Yes

 Took this from Flavorwire

Guadelajara

Did anyone else watch Ugly Betty? I was a faithful devotee until that huge TV workers strike, which prompted me to give up on television pretty much as a whole. Anyways, for all my Betty Buccaneers, we all remember her notorious poncho that she wore to her first day working for MODE magazine.
FLASHBACK
I guess I am alluding to this fashion faux-pas for a reason, she might look like she's advertising Taco Bell, but at least Betty took a leap into the unknown! At least she is mixing it up! I urge you all to be Ugly Bettys, and find your fashion flavor (hopefully it won't have as many jalapenos as Betty's) and dare to be outrageous! Start with neutrals and work your way out, there is no reason to have the same style as anyone else.
This also leads me into the second segment of the day: Ponchos. My poncho days started in fourth grade with a GAP kids fringy (yes, followers, FRINGE) hooded poncho with sherbert-colored stripes and since then I have been afraid to make my return. To warn all of you, ponchos are the real-deal again, and you might catch a glimpse of me hiding my arms in some cashmere-blend sometime soon!
Anyways, I have to leave early to set the table... Maybe I will find something funny to post later. Happy Sunday everyone!

Brr

I'm clearly good at this willing-winter-weather stuff, because it is CHILLY. You know what this means, boots and jackets! I'm going to celebrate the brisk air with my grey vegan leather UO bomber (Ok, so vegan leather= fake leather, but it just sounds so trendy!). I am lucky enough to be spending the weekend in Brooklyn, my favorite place in the world (contesting Amsterdam), and I won't be home much, so I apologize in advance for my sparse posts. Mmm mom's old-school olive suede Fiorentini+Baker boots, here I come!

A giant gumball machine to get you through the day

PS- For all of you WHS students, rave tonight! Black and white attire though, what fun is that?
